Big boost for Queen’s

QUEEN’S Head warmed up for their League Cup semi-final this Sunday by grabbing a confidence boosting draw at Maclay FC on Sunday.

A Dan Benning strike earned them a 1-1 draw against the Chesham Sunday League Division One leaders, for whom Dean Gavin netted, keeping the title race alive.

Their semi-final opponents, SFG Stone, also flexed their muscles ahead of the big day by beating Tring Anchor 5-0, with the goals shared around Danny Taylor, Ben Farrow, Andy Higginson, Ryan Whitney and Aaron Norman.

A comfortable home win for Old Belmont over Chiltern Chargers completed the Division One picture, with two goals from Neil Hyrons and one each from Steve Wood and George King earning a 4-1 win, while Ricky Eggleton netted a consolation for Chargers.

Magpies 91 continued their impressive recent league form in the top flight’s only fixture, beating title rivals Pioneer 4-2, with goals from Ryan Welsh, Matt Selley, Chris Pearcy and Paul Hyde, while a Clifford Ryan double was scant consolation for Pioneer.

Allan Moore Cup action saw Dinamo Chequers hammer Misty Moon 8-0, with Dan Fletcher grabbing half their tally, while Ciprian Chelseau bagged a brace and Matt Napier and George Buckthorpe completed the scoring.

There was a much closer encounter in the other group game, but Eldorado eventually prevailed 4-2 against Chesham Athletic. Matt Griggs and Jason Duncan were on target for Athletic, but it was not enough as Darryl Cooper, Ade Payne, Tim Webb and George Cooke struck for Eldorado.
