Catch Shakespeare live on the silver screen

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - FIVE OF THE BEST - What? When? Where? Cost? Call: Visit:

THE Royal Shakespeare Company’s performance of Love’s Labour’s Lost will be streamed live from StratfordUpon-Avon. It’s summer 1914. Dedicating themselves to a life of study, the King and his friends take an oath to avoid the company of women for three years – but then the Princess of France and her ladies-in-waiting arrive.

This imaginative production of Shakespeare’s sparkling comedy mischievously suggests that the highest of all academic endeavours is the study of the opposite sex.

Only at the end of the play is the merriment curtailed as the lovers agree to spend time apart, unaware that the world around them is about to be transformed by the war to end all wars.

The play is directed by Christopher Luscombe.
