Pupils enjoy a pharaoh-ld time
PUPILS took a trip back in time when their school held an Egyptian day.
Girls at Maltman’s Green School, in Gerrards Cross, spent a day learning about the history and culture of the ancient Egyptians with Mark Halls, of the Portals to the Past group.
They enjoyed Egyptian maths – learning how numbers were first formed – and played Egyptian board games before having a quiz.
They were also shown Egyptian artefacts and jewellery and the highlight of the day for many of the girls was mummifying a dummy.
Sofia Guerreiro said: “Some girls volunteered to help mummify a dummy. He stuck a hook up the dummy’s nose and pulled out reddish wool to show us how the Egyptians would remove the brain of a dead person.
“Some girls found it disgusting but I thought it was hilarious.”
