Ex­tend the vote to 16-year-olds

Re: Make your vote count. Buck­ing­hamshire Ad­ver­tiser Ex­am­iner, Fe­bru­ary 5, p 22-23. I AGREE with Cllr Mike Appleyard, cabi­net mem­ber for ed­u­ca­tion and skills, about en­cour­ag­ing young peo­ple to vote.

It’s in­cred­i­bly im­por­tant they feel able to sup­port a po­lit­i­cal party since the de­ci­sions made by politi­cians will af­fect them.

I was dis­ap­pointed to read that only half do vote.

I think giv­ing the vote to 16 and 17-year-olds, as pro­posed by the Labour party, will en­cour­age vot­ing.

I would also like to see re­form of the elec­toral law to al­low text and in­ter­net vot­ing.
