Br­ere­ton fights for draw

THE high­light of week 12 of the Su­per Sin­gles Darts League at Ha­zle­mere Com­mu­nity Cen­tre was John Beat­tie’s clash with Rob Br­ere­ton.

In a match that Beat­tie lead through­out, Br­ere­ton showed his stay­ing power to fight back and earn a hard fought 5-5 draw, which sees him now lead the league.

Dan Franzen has the same num­ber of points as Br­ere­ton at the top of the league, but has played two games more, his lat­est a hard fought 6-4 win over Mick Carl­ton, while Carl­ton’s sec­ond match on the night, a fine 8-2 win against Simon White, takes him up to fifth place.

Paul Wood­bridge was in fine form with a stunning dis­play to beat an out of form Andy Long 7-3, while Dave Stopps made it five wins for the sea­son with his 6-4 victory over Mike McLeod, which also in­cluded his sev­enth 180 of the sea­son.

Pat O’Reilly was in for a shock as Blaine Jelly, us­ing new darts, pro­duced an ex­cel­lent per­for­mance to win 8-2, while Mr Con­sis­tency, Mark Luck­ett, got the bet­ter of Trevor Br­ere­ton by the same score­line to go 10th.
