Brereton fights for draw
THE highlight of week 12 of the Super Singles Darts League at Hazlemere Community Centre was John Beattie’s clash with Rob Brereton.
In a match that Beattie lead throughout, Brereton showed his staying power to fight back and earn a hard fought 5-5 draw, which sees him now lead the league.
Dan Franzen has the same number of points as Brereton at the top of the league, but has played two games more, his latest a hard fought 6-4 win over Mick Carlton, while Carlton’s second match on the night, a fine 8-2 win against Simon White, takes him up to fifth place.
Paul Woodbridge was in fine form with a stunning display to beat an out of form Andy Long 7-3, while Dave Stopps made it five wins for the season with his 6-4 victory over Mike McLeod, which also included his seventh 180 of the season.
Pat O’Reilly was in for a shock as Blaine Jelly, using new darts, produced an excellent performance to win 8-2, while Mr Consistency, Mark Luckett, got the better of Trevor Brereton by the same scoreline to go 10th.
