Share your love with your local pub
Pubs have always played an important part in our communities and we’re keen to ensure that tradition continues. Here, some landlords share their latest news. We’ll drink to that!
ST VALENTINE’S DAY, Chiterns THERE is some evidence that this whole romantic tradition was started by Geoffrey Chaucer’s poem ‘Parlement of Foules’ in the 14th century. Who cares?
This is the time for face-to-face togetherness but I expect there is an app so you can remain remote. As always, many pubs are making an effort to tempt you down.
You can have a meal for two (often with a special menu and music) at The Full Moon ( Hawridge Common), The Kings Arms (Amersham) and The Plough (Winchmore Hill); Valentine’s Ales at The Black Cat (Lye Green), The Chequers (Amersham), The Gamekeepers Lodge (Chesham), The George & Dragon (Chesham), The Jolly Sportsman (Chesham) and The Misty Moon (Chesham).
And for us all to enjoy there will be a Valentine’s Beer and Cider Festival from Friday to Sunday at The Queen’s
Head (Chesham). THE EAGLE, Old Amersham THAI food will now be on the menu at The Eagle in Old Amersham’s High Street.
Landlord Rod Walker said: “I hope that the Thai food will give people an alternative. We will be serving takeaway Thai food as well.”
The pub will give 20 per cent off food when a bill is £25 or over until March 26.
The deal is from Tuesdays to Thursdays from 11am until 3pm. THE ETHORPE Hotel, Gerrards Cross THE Ethorpe is hosting a Game Festival until the end of the month.
It will be serving up different dishes featuring venison, pheasant and partridge to name a few.
A special menu is on offer and people are encouraged to go along and see what’s on offer.
