Keeping their eyes on the riverflies
NATURE enthusiasts spent the day learning about life beneath a river’s surface.
The Chilterns, Hertfordshire and Middlesex Riverfly Hub organised a Riverfly Day at the River Chess at Latimer Park, in Latimer Road, Latimer, on Saturday.
Attendees learnt discovered the importance of riverflies as indicators of the health of rivers.
The event was aimed at people already monitoring riverflies and those who are new to the science and wanted to find out more.
The day included talks by a range of experts in freshwater ecology and practical sessions after lunch, where people could try their hand at riverfly monitoring in the River Chess.
