Danc­ing along to the year of the sheep

GO along to a mar­ket at the week­end to cel­e­brate Chi­nese New Year. Che­sham Street Mar­ket will once again be mark­ing the event, which this year is year of the sheep, at its next mar­ket which takes place on Satur­day run­ning from 10am to 2pm in Mar­ket Square, Che­sham.

En­ter­tain­ment at the mar­ket in­cludes a Chi­nese Lion Dance be­ing per­formed.

There will also be the usual stalls sell­ing street food and re-cy­cled, re­man­u­fac­tured and re-used arts and crafts.

Chi­nese New Year falls on Thurs­day, Fe­bru­ary 19 this year.

Che­sham Street Mar­ket takes place on the sec­ond Satur­day of each month.

CEL­E­BRATE Valen­tine’s Day 2 at the Roald Dahl Mu­seum in Great Mis­senden by mak­ing tor­toises in hon­our of the hero Esio Trot.

Chil­dren, over the age of six, are in­vited to make ed­i­ble tor­toises out of cake with food writer Vic­to­ria Glass.

The ses­sions will be at mid­day, 2pm and 3.30pm on Satur­day at the mu­seum, 83 High Street.

You can call 01494 892192 to book. On Sun­day the tor­toise theme con­tin­ues with Mar­vel­lous tor­toise mag­net-mak­ing ses­sions (noon, 1.30pm and 3pm) and on Mon­day, it’s workhops to make tor­toise key rings (at 10.30am and mid­day) to start the half term ac­tiv­i­ties.

THE Shade of Nite will 3 per­form at the Royal Bri­tish Le­gion in Wood­side Road in Amer­sham on Satur­day. It will start at 8.15pm and is £5 for non-mem­bers and £4 for mem­bers. BAR­GAIN hun­ters should head to Ger­rards Cross at the week­end for an at­tic sale. The event goes ahead on Satur­day at the Me­mo­rial Cen­tre in East Com­mon from 9am to mid­day.

Peo­ple will be able to browse dif­fer­ent stalls to grab a bar­gain and will be able to choose from a va­ri­ety of dif­fer­ent items in­clud­ing clothes, toys and books.

En­trance to the event is £1 and car park­ing is free. CAP­TURE Valen­tine’s Day snaps at Eden’s Car­a­van of Love this Satur­day. The Eden shop­ping cen­tre, in High Wy­combe is in­stalling a photo booth in a vin­tage car­a­van.

Peo­ple will be able to pop in and take a snap for free be­tween 11am and 5pm out­side the Star­bucks coff­fee shop.

One cou­ple will win a neck­lace worth £75 do­nated by jew­ellery store, Mak­ena.
