Village centre needs fresh blood

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

A VIBRANT village centre needs a chairman and secretary to ensure its continued success.

The Holmer Green Village Centre, which is a set of two halls that are let out for most days and evenings, is seeking replacements for the two roles.

Under the constitution, the chairman can only stay in the post for five years and for current chairman James Cadle, that period will be up in March.

Mr Cadle said: “The requirement to only serve five years as chair was imposed in the 1980s to stop the chairman becoming almost a right for the incumbent year after year. However, with a committee who are mostly in their 70s or 80s, we can’t find anyone to take over from me or from our 80year old-secretary, who really feels she should retire.”

The hall is used by around 300 people each week, such as guides, brownies, a playschool and a gardening club.

Anyone interested in taking on either role can call village centre trustee Peter Healy on 01494 713 553 or 07770 267 996.
