Town crier entertains audience
A TOWN crier enthralled an audience with tales of the area he serves.
Beaconsfield town crier Dick Smith spoke at the Probus Old Beaconsfield club meeting on February 11.
Members gathered in the Fitzwilliams’ Centre, in Windsor End, to listen to Mr Smith, who, dressed in his robes, delved into his experience as a town crier.
Club president Terry Scott said: “The audience was enthralled by his recollections and experiences over many years. They were also moved by his sense of humour. The talk was an occasion to remember.”
Guests gathered for lunch at the China Diner, in the Old Town after the talk.
Probus Old Beaconsfield is a club for retired and semi-retired businessmen.
Members meet twice-monthly, on Wednesday mornings, to listen to a speaker.
