Signing is not just a gesture
PUPILS signed and sang along to a song to raise cash for charity and extend children’s signing skills Pupils at Elmtree School, in Elm Tree Hill, Chesham, took part in the annual fundraiser sign2sing for the third year in a row on Tuesday, February 3.
The annual event raises awarenss and funds for the deaf health charity SignHealth, based in Beaconsfield.
The sign2sing programme brings deaf and hearing children together through sign language.
Thousands of people across the UK took part in sign2sing which ran from Monday, February 2 to Sunday, February 8. This year’s song was called Friends Forever.
Headteacher Daphne Dru said: “Elmtree School was delighted to take part in sign2sing again this year.
“Makaton signing is already used throughout the school to support the children’s learning, so singing and signing a song is second nature to us!”
