Jon takes golds at Olympic pool

A SEER GREEN swim­mer made a huge splash at Lon­don’s Olympic swim­ming pool as part of his school’s swim­ming team, which picked up 19 medals at the ISA Na­tional Swim­ming Fi­nals.

Hav­ing drawn in­spi­ra­tion from watch­ing Re­becca Adling­ton achieve two Olympic bronze medals in the same pool at the Lon­don 2012 Olympics, Horstead went two bet­ter by pick­ing up dou­ble gold in the in­di­vid­ual back­stroke and but­ter­fly events for his age group.

His suc­cess can be at­trib­uted to hard work, skill and ex­cel­lent tu­ition re­ceived at the pool at his school, where he can be found train­ing sev­eral times each week.

LVS As­cot PE Teacher Anna Mu­rawska said: “It was amaz­ing to see the pupils achieve medals at such an awe­some venue in recog­ni­tion of all their com­mit­ment and hours of train­ing.

“Hope­fully even more of them will be able to qual­ify for the fi­nals next year.”
