Talented U19s qualify for national finals
BEACONSFIELD High School’s gymnasts have qualified for the national finals of a tournament, representing the southern region.
This follows their success at the regional competition, held at St Mary’s School, in Gerrards Cross, last weekend.
The U19s managed to keep their focus and perform exceptionally well to win their age group, despite their competition running over three hours late, and then coming up against some stiff competition.
The team of Kira Cosgrove, Kaliska Nowers, Daisy Barrows, Anna Croft, Natasha Nowers and Bronwyn Edwards will now travel to Stoke-on-Trent for the national finals on the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.
Special mention must, however, go to Nowers, who not only won an individual award as the highest scoring gymnast in the U19 competition, but was also the highest scoring gymnast all day, having achieved a rare maximum score of 16 out of 16 for her floor routine.
Beaconsfield’s U14s also performed very well and worked really hard on both their vault and floor routines, but missed out on third place by 0.2 of a point, instead finishing fourth.
The team of Rhea Chopra, Tara Burke, Sana Anwar, Ria Sedani and Erika Sicad had to be patient and resilient too as their competition ran over by an hour and a half. There was also superb support from the watching parents.
