Pick of the flock for Swan Lake

TAL­ENTED young bal­leri­nas from Bucks are set to ful­fil their dreams by danc­ing in a pro­fes­sional per­for­mance of Swan Lake.

So­phie San­ders, 11, of Bea­cons­field High School, Flora Al­lum, 16 of Dr Chal­lon­ers High School, So­phie Brog­den, 10 of Malt­man’s Green School in Ger­rards Cross, Emily Cozens, 12, of Bea­cons­field High School and Olivia Schurer, 14, of Che­sham Gram­mar School are among those in prepa­ra­tion for a role in the English Youth Ballet’s per­for­mance of the Tchaikovsky ballet.

It will fea­ture a host of in­ter­na­tional prin­ci­pal dancers who will be joined on stage by 105 of the finest young bal­leri­nas, all aged be­tween eight and 18 from Bucks and the sur­round­ing ar­eas.

Re­hearsals are tak­ing place ahead of the main per­for­mances at the Ayels­bury Water­side Theatre this week­end.

The girls were se­lected at

CHO­SEN: Back line: Olivia Schurer, Lilly West­cott, Ella West­cott, Emily Cozens, Flora Al­lum. Front line: Elisha Togher and So­phie Brog­den from Bucks are per­form­ing Swan Lake with the English Youth Ballet an au­di­tion held in Novem­ber last year by the English Youth Ballet, which was at­tended by more than 200 young hope­fuls.

Direc­tor and founder of the EYB Janet Lewis was on the look out for the very best tal­ent to join the pro­duc­tion, and the lucky dancers found out they had been ac­cepted on the day.
