DIABETES was no drawback for a woman to run the marathon.

Kirsteen Swann, 27, of Beamond End in Amersham, ran the London marathon on Sunday in four hours and 21 minutes.

Miss Swann said: “It was amazing, the atmosphere was absolutely amazing.

“I was working out in Italy before the marathon so I couldn’t do that much training for it.”

Miss Swann has raised around £2,200 for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and she, herself, has Type One Diabetes.

Talking about running the 26-mile feat with diabetes, she added: “The only thing I had to do was make sure that I had lots of sugar, but there were so many people handing out sweets that it was easy.”
