Back-to back defeats
UNICORNS COUNTIES KO TROPHY Berkshire 238-6 Bucks 213-7 BUCKS suffered their second straight defeat in the Unicorns Trophy when they lost by 25 runs to Berkshire in a tight Group Four contest at Wokingham on Sunday.
A tight early spell from Simon Stanway, who conceded only 18 runs in his ten overs, kept Berkshire in check, but Berkshire kept their wickets intact and were able to accelerate to reach 238-6 from their 50 overs.
However, Bucks got off to another poor start, with opener Matt Watson making his second successive duck as they slumped to 42-4, although a super stand of 142 for the fifth wicket between Hamzah Riazuddin and Dan Hampton, whose 77 came off just 84 balls with three sixes, gave them renewed hope.
But their dismissals ended any hope of victory and Bucks finished on 213-7. They will be hoping for better luck when they entertain last year’s runners-up Oxfordshire, at Wormsley this Sunday (11am).
