Party nom­i­nees to stand un­op­posed

COULD it be that some of our parish coun­cil­lors are afraid of los­ing their seats due to be­ing un­pop­u­lar with de­ci­sions they have made re­gard­ing our vil­lage?

I am a lit­tle con­fused with the elec­tion of can­di­dates for the parish coun­cil in Chal­font St Peter, due to be held to­day (Thurs­day).

I was un­der the im­pres­sion that elec­tions are an op­por­tu­nity to voice your opin­ions on who you want to rep­re­sent you.

I, there­fore, do not un­der­stand how can­di­dates can take au­to­matic seats in the Gold Hill and Chal­font Com­mon wards un­con­tested whilst in Cen­tral ward we have six peo­ple con­test­ing the seat and in Austen­wood, three peo­ple are
