Open gar­dens raise funds for ap­peal

VIS­I­TORS have flocked to open gar­dens to raise funds for a char­ity.

Diana Shorey of Lown­des Av­enue in Che­sham opened up her gar­den to the public on St Ge­orge’s Day to raise funds for Scan­nap­peal.

The char­ity’s fundrais­ing of­fi­cer, Stephanie Hal­lam, said: “Tea, cakes and lunchtime snacks were en­joyed in the spring weather and pro­duce and plants were sold to raise funds.”

Two days later, there were also two open gar­dens in Jor­dans.

In to­tal, th­ese open gar­dens raised around £1,000 to­wards Scan­nap­peal’s Sound Ap­peal at Amer­sham Hos­pi­tal.

It is a £50,000 ap­peal to pro­vide ad­vanced di­ag­nos­tic equip­ment to sub­stan­tially im­prove the audiology ser­vice.
