Haigh takes accolade
OAKLAND PARK GC Christine Haigh (pictured, left, with promoter Linda Liston) was presented with the Oakland Park Ladies’ Player of the Year 2014 Shield at the club’s spring meeting and charity luncheon.
The day also saw 68 women play in the Texas Scramble, the winners being Lyn Robinson, Maureen Stills, Win Street and Pauline Pearce, with an average score of 62.6.
This put them ahead of Angela Smith, Ann Richards and Di Douglas, who were second with an average of 63, and Helen Rothman, Paula Elliott, Ronnie Benattar and Jenny Brooke, who were third with an average of 63.2.
Longest drives came from Brenda Crane and Jackie Parker, nearest to the pin were Mary Holmes and Gillian Pugh and £540 was raised towards the lady captain’s charity, Help for Heroes.
