Baldwin’s drive victory

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - SPORT -

LIZ Baldwin was the winner of Chalfont St Giles Bowls Club’s Bank Holiday Spoon Drive, played over three sessions of eight rinks.

Although she tied on 36 points with John Pink and Tim Baldwin, Liz won more ends, while the Ladies’ and Gent’s Wooden Spoons were awarded to Beryl Ralley and Mick Lane.

This followed a couple of weekend friendly defeats for the club, losing 130-79 to Hazells on Saturday and 83-62 to Wendover on Sunday.

These, however, followed wins on the road for the mixed team at Glory Mill on Wednesday (81-57), and for the ladies at Denham the following day (71-25).

The week began on a losing note though, with a home friendly against Court Park, which proved rather one sided, and although Dave Harding and his team led for much of their rink, they were also caught at the end and Chalfont lost on all rinks, with an overall deficit of 106-51.
