THE eagerly anticipated Chesham Sunday League Premier Division title decider, which required Chalfont Saints to get a draw or win at Last Post to take the top honour, is still on ice as the match was postponed.
Current leaders Magpies 91, who hold a one point advantage over Saints at the top, but with a considerably worse goal difference and having completed their games, will have to rely on Post winning against Saints for their second Premier crown.
Saints, as well as having to wait on their title ambitions, also had the midweek disappointment of losing the Allan Moore Cup final to Pioneer by a single JP Jamil strike.
Sunday’s Invitation Cup semi-finals proved rather one-sided affairs as Magpies 91 and Maclay FC set up a final clash after routing Misty Moon and Tring Anchor.
No doubt who took the plaudits, as Ryan Welsh netted six times, while Danny Holt added three more in the 9-0 demolition of Moon.
Division One champions Maclay fell one short of Magpies’ total, but hat-tricks from Dean Gavin and Ian Ranger, plus further strikes from Adam Cowland, Matt Ashby and Peter Hay, ensured an easy passage through to the final.
Division One action saw Chesham Athletic beat Queens Head with goals from Jason Duncan and Jack Grant, although Dan Benning kept Queens’ hopes alive with a reply, while SFG Stone and Old Belmont played out a goalless stalemate.
