MIDWIVES celebrated the International Day of the Midwife at Wexham Park Hospital on Tuesday, May 5.

They hosted a series of information stands to raise awareness of the maternity services provided at the hospital.

The International Day of the Midwife is an internationally recognised day that highlights the work of midwives across the world.

Andrea Anderson, deputy head of midwifery, said: “The day was a great opportunity to remind people about the role of midwives and to share examples of great care and positive ways of working.

“The midwife team at Wexham Park hospital is passionate about sharing their knowledge and skills with others who work in areas where they are less fortunate and don’t have the same access to training and equipment as we do in the UK.

“As a result they have formed a partnership with a non-government not for profit hospital in Hoima, Uganda, and this year we wanted to give special recognition to our midwives who give their time to help support and improve midwifery there.”
