GAME ON: Head teacher Terry Ayres with head boy Nick Webber A SCHOOL rallied round to raise money for the crisis in Nepal by holding a table tennis challenge.
Thorpe House School, in Gerrards Cross, decided to hold the event following the earthquakes in the country.
Head boy Nick Webber decided to challenge the school’s head master Terry Ayres to a table tennis match on Friday, May 8 to raise cash for the relief challenge.
There were two matches, one for spectators from the senior school, and one for pre-prep.
Jan Macmillan, teacher in charge of charity events at the school, said: “Friday’s event was a great success. Boys and staff joined Nick and Mr Ayres in the gym and donated generously.
“Additional funds were raised by the sale of drinks, sweets, cakes and crisps all kindly donated by Nick’s mum.
“One of our year fives, Freddie Haywood, even made some delicious ginger biscuits in the shape of a table tennis bat and ball.”
Mr Ayres was beaten in both matches, but a total of £500 was raised for the fund.
