Chesham’s great start

Winning scores came from Coral Sills, Ashley Ware and Geoff Denham 24-19. Dot Burgin, David Sills and Frank McCartney 15-14 and Helen Fillery, Peter Horton, Chris Harvey 35-8.
However, Chesham will have an 18-shot deficit to make up in the second leg of their annual Jubilee Cup match against Princes Risborough in June, having gone down by 113-95 in the first leg, despite a top rink win of 19-15 from David Hobbs, Richard Free and Norman Green.
There was an even narrower loss at Iver Heath, losing by just one shot, 92-91, despite the best efforts of Derek Puddiphat, David Sills and Norman Green (17-11), while Chesham also lost 85-61 at Tring, where best rink honours went to Gill Henderson, Martin Blackman, Jean McNab and Peter Horton (25-13).
Meanwhile, the Australian Pairs competition, held on Bank Holiday Monday, resulted in a win for Tricia Parsons and Ashley Ware, who were unbeaten throughout the afternoon’s competition.
