Win­ning scores came from Coral Sills, Ash­ley Ware and Ge­off Den­ham 24-19. Dot Bur­gin, David Sills and Frank McCart­ney 15-14 and He­len Fillery, Peter Hor­ton, Chris Har­vey 35-8.

How­ever, Che­sham will have an 18-shot deficit to make up in the sec­ond leg of their an­nual Ju­bilee Cup match against Princes Ris­bor­ough in June, hav­ing gone down by 113-95 in the first leg, de­spite a top rink win of 19-15 from David Hobbs, Richard Free and Nor­man Green.

There was an even nar­rower loss at Iver Heath, los­ing by just one shot, 92-91, de­spite the best ef­forts of Derek Pud­diphat, David Sills and Nor­man Green (17-11), while Che­sham also lost 85-61 at Tring, where best rink honours went to Gill Hen­der­son, Martin Black­man, Jean McNab and Peter Hor­ton (25-13).

Mean­while, the Aus­tralian Pairs com­pe­ti­tion, held on Bank Hol­i­day Mon­day, re­sulted in a win for Tri­cia Par­sons and Ash­ley Ware, who were un­beaten through­out the af­ter­noon’s com­pe­ti­tion.
