Hopes pupils’ sur­vey will calm traf­fic

PUPILS took to the street to un­der­take a sur­vey of traf­fic on a road near to their school.

A group of newly ap­pointed road safety of­fi­cers from Gay­hurst School in Bull Lane went out into the road fol­low­ing con­cerns from par­ents about traf­fic there.

The young­sters took to the road at 8am and counted traf­fic and pedes­tri­ans for an hour.

Matthew Jack­son, a year six pupil at the school, said: “In one 10 minute pe­riod we counted 127 ve­hi­cles.”

The school is now hop­ing that the find­ings
