MID BUCKS CRICKET LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION Ballinger Waggoners 171-6 Knotty Green 143 Ballinger won by 28 runs A FOURTH-wicket stand of 104 between Rollo McIntyre and Ian Davies laid the foundations for Ballinger Waggoners’ win over Knotty Green on Saturday.

Early dismissals for openers Matt Riley and Danny Draper, and a second-ball exit for Andy Thompson, saw Ballinger wobbling at 56-3, but Davies lent the imperious McIntyre magnificent support, turning singles into twos while his partner went for the big hits.

After a spate of sixes, McIntyre chanced his arm once too often and was bowled for 77 with only two overs remaining, while Davies fell for a gutsy 28 in the final over as they closed on 171-6.

Knotty’s reply got off to a shaky start, stuttering to 18-3 as Nick Adams struck before Will Reid took two scalps in his fourth over, one of them to a miraculous diving catch by Thompson. First change Ian Maciver took a wicket in his first over, but when a Knotty batsman unleashed a volley of sixes it looked like the game would swing.

There was a relief when Thompson bowled him, making it 113-6 with 10 overs left and the remaining batsmen were not up to it, Knotty all out for 143 and Reid 4-26.
