The first an­nual Buck­ing­hamshire Food and Drink awards look set to get the county’s taste­buds tin­gling

PROV­ING the county is the very epit­ome of good taste, the first an­nual Buck­ing­hamshire Food & Drink Awards win­ners will be an­nounced at a pres­ti­gious cer­e­mony on Mon­day June 1.

Nom­i­na­tions have now closed and public vot­ing is com­plete and the re­sults are un­der lock and key un­til the awards cer­e­mony, which will take place at Hor­wood House in Lit­tle Hor­wood.

Karen McGeeny, from the Buck­ing­hamshire Food and Drink Awards, said: “We had a phe­nom­e­nal re­sponse to th­ese first ever awards. Some 159 Buck­ing­hamshire venues were nom­i­nated with a stag­ger­ing 29,000 votes cast.

“Th­ese amaz­ing num­ber show the public of Buck­ing­hamshire have an Above from left, Mayo Broth­ers are nom­i­nated for Best In­de­pe­dent Butch­ers, Ar­ti­choke are up for Best Fine Dining Restau­rant and Ser­vice Ex­cel­lence and Chiltern Farm Foods for Best Farm­ers Mar­ket Stall­holder. Be­low, chef Tim Zekki of Duende Pop Up is in the run­ning for Best New­comer Gil­bey’s – Amer­sham The Grange – Mil­ton Keynes The Smoke Shack – Stony Stratford in­sa­tiable ap­petite for qual­ity, lo­cal venues It is a su­perb achieve­ment to get through to this stage and we are ex­cited about mak­ing the an­nounce­ment of June 1.”

There are 13 cat­e­gories in the com­pe­ti­tion rang­ing from best cock­tail menu to best butcher.
