Black tie ball to raise funds for school hall

A SCHOOL is hold­ing its first sum­mer ball for nearly a decade to raise money for a new stage in the main hall.

Peo­ple can ex­pect an auc­tion, live mu­sic and din­ner at the ball which will be held at The Bea­cons­field School on Wattleton Road. It will take place on Satur­day June 6, with wel­come drinks at 7pm out­side be­fore head­ing in for din­ner at 7.30pm

Par­ent Sue Dyer, who is also on the school PTFA, said: “The school’s not done a ball for a num­ber of years and we’re do­ing a big fundraiser to re­place the stag­ing in the main school hall.”

She added: “In the main school hall the main stage is quite run down so the PTFA de­cided all fundrais­ing ac­tiv­i­ties are go­ing to­wards the hall.

“It’s nice for par­ents to un­der­stand what they’re con­tribut­ing to­wards.”

www.get­ ex­pected and they will be able to take part in an auc­tion, a casino and lis­ten to live mu­sic from lo­cal band The Scoundrels and the school jazz band.

Mrs Dyer said: “We’re run­ning an auc­tion so we’re hop­ing that will raise us an amount of money to go to­wards the stage.”

Prepa­ra­tions for the big event are well un­der way, as Mrs Dyer said: “It all seems to com­ing to­gether nicely, but one thing we can’t con­trol is the sun­shine.”

She added: “They did hold a ball a while ago but it was nine or 10 years ago since the school did any­thing like this as far as I know.”
