An­te­na­tal video ini­tia­tive praised

VIDEO STAR: Ger­gana Nikolova, mid­wife at Wexham Park Hos­pi­tal, was the brains be­hind a new video ini­tia­tive A MID­WIFE is the brains be­hind a new ini­tia­tive at a hos­pi­tal to pro­duce a se­ries of an­te­na­tal videos for par­ents to be.

Ger­gana Nikolova, mid­wife at Wexham Park Hos­pi­tal, was be­hind the idea of videos to cover a wide range of sub­jects from birth plan­ning to post natal care.

The videos are prov­ing to be a huge suc­cess, with pos­i­tive feed­back from par­ents to be and from lo­cal GPs.

And lo­cal GP Dr Laura Weidner, form South­mead Surgery in Farn­ham Com­mon, said: “I think the videos pro­vide an ex­cel­lent re­source for par­ents-tobe.

“There is so much in­for­ma­tion to im­part to preg­nant women in short ap­point­ment times, that it is use­ful to have ac­cu­rate re­sources to re­fer women to, and the videos are very easy to use and can be ac­cessed on a com­puter or smart phone. As a GP I would be very happy to rec­om­mend them to my pa­tients”

Ger­gana worked with the mid­wife team at Wexham Park hos­pi­tal and Slough based com­pany, Croft TV, to pro­duce the videos, and was re­cently awarded a Frim­ley Health staff award for her work.
