Be considerate with your bonfire
GARDENERS are being warned to think about their neighbours before building bonfires to dispose of garden waste.
Chiltern District Council has urged gardeners to use recycling facilities instead, which can be more environmentally friendly as well as protecting neighbours from unwanted smoke.
If a bonfire is the only option for disposing waste, the council issued the following advice:
Inform neighbours beforehand
Choose a time of day and weather conditions carefully to minimise disruption
Site your bonfire away from windows, trees and fences
Do not burn wet or green garden waste, which creates heavy smoke
Do not burn oily rags, rubbing, plastic or items which create toxic fumes
