Children join in fun of Prestwood run
MORE than 200 people took part in a 10k run recently, raising £5,000 for charity.
It was also the first year in which children could take part in the Prestwood Run, which started from the Sprinters Leisure Centre, in Honor End Lane, Prestwood.
Money was raised for the Chilterns MS Centre at the event on Sunday, May 17.
The men’s race was won by Paul Bucknall in 36 minutes and 19 seconds and Karmen Pardoe won the women’s race in just under 41 minutes.
Major sponsors were the Mid-Counties Co-operative, Prestwood, Taylor Wimpey, Prestwood Motors, J & P Partnership and the local branch of the TSB.
Sharon Deacon, race organiser and community fundraiser from the MS Centre, said: “There was a lovely family atmosphere at the event, our inaugural children’s fun run that ran alongside the adult’s race was a great success.
“We are so grateful for all the support we received locally and to all the runners.
“We are delighted with the money that was raised, which was far greater than our expectations.
“The funds will help so many people at the centre that rely on us to make a real difference to their quality of life.”
