Evans an all-round star

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - SPORT -

JAMES Evans starred as Amersham Hill thrashed Taplow seconds on Saturday in the Chiltern League.

Hill’s vice-captain was almost a one-man team as his century and five-wicket haul sealed a 101-run win.

His 105, supported by skipper Chris Fletcher (47) and Greg Mackenzie, carried the hosts to an imposing 288-4, a target Taplow never threatened thanks to Evans’ 5-54.

The news was not so good for Hill’s second XI, who were thrashed by nine wickets by Division Four opponents Winchmore Hill.

Penn & Tylers Green’s sides also had mixed fortunes, Danny Lewis’s brilliant 132 helping their first XI to an emphatic 163-run win over Denham in Division One, while the seconds were skittled for 85 in losing by 146 runs at Pinkneys Green in Division 2.

Elsewhere in Division One, Chalfont St Giles’ firsts could only draw with Taplow, but their seconds won by 10 wickets at Littlewick Green, routing the hosts for just 49 thanks to 6-25 from captain Simon Lancaster.
