Chesham’s cup pride
CHESHAM Bowls Club opened their Bucks Cup campaign this week by taking bragging rights from neighbours Amersham.
The trio of Alan Cohn, Roger Elliston and Chris Harvey led the way as they won 22-11 and, with two of the other three games going Chesham’s way, an 82-66 win was sealed giving them 12 points to Amersham’s two.
Chesham are well placed too, following a 126-107 win over Marlow in the first leg of the Chesham Cup. Top rink in the success was the quartet of Margaret Shepherd, Andy Roker, Colin Ware and Peter Horton who won their match 26-11.
More success came by way of a 42-32 win over Aylesbury Town in the London & Southern Counties Double Fours.
The game where rinks are played home and away saw host quartet Chris Fillery, David Coles, Chris Harvey and Keith Patrick win 22-12, while Chesham’s away foursome of Nathan Harvey, Alan Cohn, Ray Keen and Mick Skerry drew 20-20.
The week’s friendly action witnessed a 106-92 win over Iver Heath and a 98-89 defeat to Aston Clinton, while Bank Holiday Monday saw the men take the honours in the club’s annual ladies versus gentleman match by 124-110.
