Hats off to a season of delightful concerts
AFOUR part series of Sunday afternoon concerts is underway with the concert leader celebrating her return to a village. Fiona Brockhurst, who is originally from Chalfont St Peter, is leading the shows which held at All Saints Church on Oval Way. The first concert, a ‘Spring Serenade’, was performed by a 10-piece ensemble, on April
and included pieces by Handel, Hazell, Bizet and the Beatles.
And on May 17 the Amberley Wind Ensemble performed romantic dance tunes
French and English composers such as Arnold, Wedgwood, Arrieu and Poulenc.
Both performances were followed by afternoon tea in the church hall with cakes, bakes and sandwiches.
The first two events have raised over £900 thanks to the generosity of everyone involved.
The next concert is Sunday, June 14 at 2pm commencing at 2pm, when Cornucopia, a quartet of French Horns, will perform a selection of pieces. An optional barbeque lunch will be available before the concert fromm 12.30pm.
