Hats off to a sea­son of de­light­ful con­certs

AFOUR part se­ries of Sun­day af­ter­noon con­certs is un­der­way with the con­cert leader cel­e­brat­ing her re­turn to a vil­lage. Fiona Brock­hurst, who is orig­i­nally from Chal­font St Peter, is lead­ing the shows which held at All Saints Church on Oval Way. The first con­cert, a ‘Spring Ser­e­nade’, was per­formed by a 10-piece en­sem­ble, on April

and in­cluded pieces by Han­del, Hazell, Bizet and the Bea­tles.

And on May 17 the Am­ber­ley Wind En­sem­ble per­formed ro­man­tic dance tunes

French and English com­posers such as Arnold, Wedg­wood, Ar­rieu and Poulenc.

Both per­for­mances were fol­lowed by af­ter­noon tea in the church hall with cakes, bakes and sand­wiches.

The first two events have raised over £900 thanks to the gen­eros­ity of ev­ery­one in­volved.

The next con­cert is Sun­day, June 14 at 2pm com­menc­ing at 2pm, when Cor­nu­copia, a quar­tet of French Horns, will per­form a se­lec­tion of pieces. An op­tional bar­beque lunch will be avail­able be­fore the con­cert fromm 12.30pm.
