Latest round up of deserving nominees

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - FRONT PAGE -

A YOUTH worker has been commended for her efforts by receiving a Pride of Bucks nomination.

Sally Alford, a trustee of Shed@ThePark, a youth charity based in Chesham, has been put forward for the Community Champion prize.

The award is designed to recognise people who have gone above and beyond in their work in the community.

George Jeffrey, who nominated Sally for the prize, believes she fits the bill.

He said: “Sally (known as Sal) has been a tireless contributor to both Shed@ThePark and the local Chesham and Amersham communities for more than 10 years. As a Trustee of Shed for 10 years, she has given her heart and soul to this worthy charity, taking on a variety of different roles, immersing herself into the local community, attending countless meetings and manning count- less numbers of stalls, all to the benefit of both Shed and the community.

“She was a volunteer at the 2012 Par Olympic Games, has engaged in numerous other local non-profit initiatives and has constantly and selflessly given of her time for a wider cause. I can think of no other better recipient of a Community Champion award.”
