THE ONLY platinum ranked Jazzercise instructor in the UK was invited to the Queen’s Royal Garden Party in honour of her services to the community.

And in March Marthese Attard, who started her business in Chalfont St Peter 25 years ago, led a workout attended by more than 100 people, managing to raise more than £10,000 for two charities, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and The Brain Tumour Charity.

Ms Attard’s success means that she is now the highest ranking instructor in the UK and ranked the seventh highest worldwide.

Jazzercise is an international dance fitness franchise that hosts more than 7,800 franchises worldwide, teaching more than 32,000 classes a week in 32 countries.

It combines dance based cardio, Pilates, yoga, strength training and stretching to chart music. Speaking about the Garden Party which took place on May 28, Ms Attard said: “It was amazing, it’s really an amazing event.”

She added: “The Queen was smiling and beaming. It was quite a nice experience for me.”

Ms Attard was nominated by Wycombe District Council to attend the party and describing how it felt to receive a nomination said: “It’s a nice award after all the hard work. You’re recognised for something that you do.

“I’ve been doing this for 25 years and that’s why I’ve been nominated.”

While she was at the event she met people “from all walks of life,” and even received a smile from the Queen, something she described as “unbelievable”.

She added: “This year I’m celebrating 25 years of me teaching Jazzercise. I grew the business from four classes a week to 30 a week.”

Miss Attard, who’s franchise now has “about 700 members,” is proud of how well her business has grown.

She said: “I’m the only one ranked platinum outside the US. It’s unbelievable, it’s amazing. I’ve been on a high.”
