Always putting others needs before hers
PUTTING helping others before her own needs leads to Sharon McEwan being put forward for the Community Champion award sponsored by Nunn Hayward
Dressing in Victorian costume isn’t an everyday event for Sharon McEwan but sometimes her role as a Friend of Chesham Cemetery Committee simply demands it.
This picture was taken last year as Mrs McEwan helped out as a guide for a history event at the cemetery. And it is one of the reasons she has been nominated for a Pride of Bucks award.
From helping at the Christmas Party for the elderly, to undertaking community litter picks and volunteering with the Friends of the cemetery, she has spent many years giving her time freely to help the community.
Which is why she has been nominated for a Community Champion award, a category sponsored Nunn Hayward.
Mrs McEwan still dedicates a lot of time to the cemetery committee, including unlocking the gates on says such as
by Christmas Day, tracking graves and locations for relatives and the town hall and keeping it clean and tidy.
Nominating her, Laura McEwan said: “Sharon has always put helping others before helping herself, volunteering her time. Despite her health not being great, she will still help anyone who asks.”
