Sport­ing hero for a com­mu­nity

IT takes skill and ded­i­ca­tion to be­come a cham­pion in any sport­ing dis­ci­pline but a young mar­tial arts ex­pert has more than ex­celled in a num­ber of dis­ci­plines and this has led to his nom­i­na­tions in two Pride of Bucks awards cat­e­gories this year.

Liam Avis-Bates, from Amer­sham, has been nom­i­nated in for Com­mu­nity Cham­pion,

Alexander Jan­sons Young Peo­ples nom­i­nee – spon­sored by Alexander Jan­sons Foun­da­tion

spon­sored by Nunn Hay­ward and the Alexander Jan­sons Award for young peo­ple aged be­tween 18-25 and spon­sored by the Alexander Jan­sons Foun­da­tion.

Nom­i­nat­ing Liam, Matt Deprez said: “As well as be­com­ing a seven times cham­pion in three dif­fer­ent mar­tial arts, Liam spends his time im­prov­ing peo­ple’s lives in sur­round­ing sports clubs and giv­ing his free time help­ing out in the lo­cal com­mu­nity.

“I re­ally hope he can win a Pride of Bucks award.”
