Ralphs’ 58 hit in vain
SEEVENT OVER 60S COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS Kent IIs 245-3 Bucks IIs 197-7 NOT even a fine half century from Hawridge & Cholesbury’s Brian Ralphs could save Bucks Over 60s seconds from defeat to Kent at Amersham Hill last Wednesday.
Kent won the toss and elected to bat and although the Bucks bowlers kept it very tight early on, they eventually reached 245-3.
Bucks then had Brian Ralphs to thank for an excellent opening knock of 58 as wickets fell around him, and while Derek Pocknell hit a quick 25, the hosts had fallen behind the rate at 122-7. Amersham Hill’s Ron Hedley (31no), together with Jim Spooner (39no), put on an unbeaten 75 for the eighth wicket, but it was not enough for victory as Bucks ended on 197-7.
