World Cup qualifiers call-up for Heath star
Striker gets international chance with Caribbean country
Gavin James could become an international star for St Vincent & The Grenadines progress via the internet.
He said: “Gavin is buzzing. This is a really good thing for him and for us as a small club like ours, and we will be keeping an eye on how he gets on.
“He qualifies through his parents and St Vincent would have been foolish not to have taken a look – he is a really confident player and has always scored goals.”
James has been given time off from his job as a PE technician at Chesham High School to take part in his World Cup adventure, and Malcolm is confident that on his return the front man will stick around for the Heathens’ assault on the Southern League next season.
He added: “I don’t like to think about things like if an international call-up will attract interest in Gavin, we’re just seeing it as a positive for him and for us.
“If a bigger club does come in as a result? If it happens it happens. All the players have now been spoken to and we’re hoping to keep the majority of last season’s squad together – the core is the key.
“It will mean further distances, so they will have to look at their commitment, and a better standard of football, so we will have to strengthen – but it’s about how they react to that.”
