A TOP rink win of 33-6 from Dagan Burt, Denise Newport and Bob Doddington helped Richings Park Bowls Club hammer Ladygate 97-58 in Sunday’s friendly.

This followed a narrow 92-86 defeat to Cippenham the previous day, in which two Richings rinks – Tony Davies, Diane Bowd and Robert Mathews (20-12), and Jackie Andrews, Stephen Page and Roger Sprules (19-11) – both won by eight points.

Richings also took two points to West Ealing’s one in their Ad Fin League clash, having won 34-29 overall thanks to Sprules, Colin Cawley and Jeff Jacobs’ 25-9 win in the home leg.

This follows other Ad Fin wins over Court Park (31-23) and Denham (39-22).

There was an unexpected 84-83 win over Denham in which Richings lost on four out of five rinks, but squeezed an overall victory thanks to a resounding 26-9 triumph for Puttock, Cawley and Doddington.

They pulled off a similar trick against Egham, losing on three out of five rinks but winning the other two emphatically – not least Cawley, Jacobs and Dagan Burt’s 27-14 success – to score a narrow 94-90 win overall.

Chalfont St Giles were seen off 72-67 in the Bucks Plate, thanks in no small part to Doddington, Burt and Simon Edwards’ 21-9 rink win, and also 70-52 in a Thames Valley League match, where Page, Masters and John Andrews top scored 28-11.

Richings won two of the four rinks in their 75-67 defeat to Wexham – the best being Cyril Dean, Athena Cawley and Gary Masters’ 22-17 victory.

However, an 18-7 rink win for Cawley, Barbara Talbot and John Andrews was not enough in the friendly against Harlington, as Richings went down 67-43

And there was only one triumph in their 73-55 reverse to Fassnidge, that being Doddington, Pam Sprules and Sue Puttock’s 19-17 rink win.
