Royal visit from shop­ping queen

A FA­MOUS tele­vi­sion per­son­al­ity is com­ing to Bucks next week.

Re­tail con­sul­tant and broad­caster Mary Por­tas, who is known for her se­ries Queen of Shops, is vis­it­ing Chal­font St Giles Me­mo­rial Hall, School Lane, on June 18.

She will be giv­ing a talk on her new book called Shop Girl.

Rena Hume, who helped ar­range the visit, said: “I just think we’re ex­tremely lucky to have her com­ing and I hope that she gets a good au­di­ence.”

“She’s a re­ally dy­namic per­son if you’ve seen her on TV. We hope she will spend some time in the vil­lage.”

“We’re hop­ing that peo­ple turn out and meet her just be­cause it’s al­ways as­pir­ing to meet some­body who’s a suc­cess in her life.”

Tick­ets to the visit are £8 and in­clude a glass of Pimms or wine.

There will be a book sign­ing at 6pm, fol­lowed by the talk and an in­ter­view at 6.30pm.
