‘The right man for chal­lenges ahead’

New chief ex­ec­u­tive for dis­trict coun­cil re­vealed

A JOINT dis­trict coun­cil has ap­pointed a new chief ex­ec­u­tive.

Bob Smith will be tak­ing over the reins from Alan Goodrum in his new role at Chiltern and South Bucks Dis­trict Coun­cils.

Mr Smith has been joint direc­tor of ser­vices since Fe­bru­ary 2012.

Mr Goodrum re­tires at the end of June af­ter 16 years as chief ex­ec­u­tive at Chiltern Dis­trict Coun­cil and three years at Chiltern and South Bucks Dis­trict Coun­cils.

Ac­cept­ing his ap­point­ment Mr Smith said: “I am de­lighted to have been ap­pointed as act­ing chief ex­ec­u­tive and grate­ful to lo­cal mem­bers for en­trust­ing me with this po­si­tion and to my pre­de­ces­sor, Alan, for leav­ing such an in­te­grated and smooth func­tion­ing or­gan­i­sa­tion to work in.

“I am look­ing for­ward to build­ing on the ex­cel­lent work­ing re­la­tion­ships be­tween mem­bers and of­fi­cers.

“I want to en­sure we com­plete the join­ing up of ser­vices across both

Leader Chiltern Dis­trict Coun­cil, coun­cil­lor Iso­bel Darby, said: “Bob has vast ex­pe­ri­ence in lo­cal gov­ern­ment and his con­sid­er­able tal­ent, drive and abil­ity have been ob­vi­ous to all who have worked with him so far.

“There are some very chal­leng­ing times ahead and I am con­fi­dent that Bob and his team are the right peo­ple to lead our

of part­ner­ship for­ward.”

Leader of South Bucks Dis­trict Coun­cil, coun­cil­lor Ralph Bagge, said: “I am de­lighted that Bob has ac­cepted the role.
