New chief executive for district council revealed
A JOINT district council has appointed a new chief executive.
Bob Smith will be taking over the reins from Alan Goodrum in his new role at Chiltern and South Bucks District Councils.
Mr Smith has been joint director of services since February 2012.
Mr Goodrum retires at the end of June after 16 years as chief executive at Chiltern District Council and three years at Chiltern and South Bucks District Councils.
Accepting his appointment Mr Smith said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as acting chief executive and grateful to local members for entrusting me with this position and to my predecessor, Alan, for leaving such an integrated and smooth functioning organisation to work in.
“I am looking forward to building on the excellent working relationships between members and officers.
“I want to ensure we complete the joining up of services across both

Leader Chiltern District Council, councillor Isobel Darby, said: “Bob has vast experience in local government and his considerable talent, drive and ability have been obvious to all who have worked with him so far.
“There are some very challenging times ahead and I am confident that Bob and his team are the right people to lead our
of partnership forward.”
Leader of South Bucks District Council, councillor Ralph Bagge, said: “I am delighted that Bob has accepted the role. I believe he has all the attributes to take Chiltern and South Bucks through to the next stage and I am looking forward to working with him.” Alan Goodrum has announced he will retire
