Hare­wood Downs’ Sam Car­ring­ton with Stan Griffiths HARE­WOOD DOWNS GC HARE­WOOD Downs’ very own Sam Car­ring­ton pro­duced the best nett score of 69 at the club’s in­au­gu­ral Ju­nior Open.

En­trants came from as many as 16 clubs in the area and the best gross score of 74 came from East Berk­shire’s Bradley Tuck­ett.

Hare­wood Downs ju­nior or­gan­iser, Stan Griffiths, who is pic­tured with Car­ring­ton, said: “This was a suc­cess­ful ini­tia­tive and we will be look­ing to build on this ex­cel­lent first year for next year and be­yond.” Terry Green­somes Goblets: 1. BEST NETT: Com­pe­ti­tion or­gan­iser Ray Moore, win­ner Sylvester Nolan and club pres­i­dent Ralph Lane LIT­TLE HAY GC SYLVESTER Nolan used all his years of ex­pe­ri­ence to win the Lit­tle Hay Golf Club 75+ years com­pe­ti­tion last Thurs­day.

Some 21 Lit­tle Hay mem­bers took part, with the old­est be­ing Roys­ton Fisher at 84 years old, the same age as club pres­i­dent Ralph Lane, who came third on 36 points.

Nolan’s win­ning score was 40 points, while Derek Tar­ling was sec­ond on 38. Men’s July Medal: Div One – 1. Wayne Grif­fin (nett 68); 2. John Leahy (nett 69 ocb); 3. Matt Arm­strong (nett 69 ocb).
