THAMES VAL­LEY CRICKET LEAGUE DI­VI­SION ONE Che­sham Wok­ing­ham 179-7 180-2 A CON­TIN­U­ING loss of form saw Che­sham suf­fer a crush­ing de­feat by eight wickets to Wok­ing­ham on Satur­day – their third in suc­ces­sion.

It all be­gan so well, with Bar­ney Atkins (70) and Matt Rance (58) open­ing with a cen­tury part­ner­ship, but things then went rapidly down­hill and they col­lapsed to the in­ad­e­quate to­tal of 179-7 off 52 overs. In the field, Che­sham were just as woe­ful and Wok­ing­ham made it home with 12 overs to spare.

James An­der­son pro­duced fig­ures his Eng­land name­sake would be proud of (4-25) as the sec­onds re­duced Kid­more End firsts to 48-4, but Che­sham then let their vis­i­tors off the hook and al­lowed them to set a tar­get of 176, de­spite Umar As­lam weigh­ing in with 3-50. Af­ter strug­gling them­selves to 23-3, a flu­ent 39 by Gra­ham Rance held Che­sham’s innings to­gether be­fore tail-en­ders Umar and An­der­son clinched a draw at 150-8.

The fourths suf­fered a 103-run de­feat to Bea­cons­field thirds, but the thirds went joint top in Di­vi­sion 5a af­ter re­duc­ing Hilling­don from 82-8 to 88 all out to win by 82 runs, Mo Asuaf hav­ing ear­lier been un­de­feated on 58.

Else­where, Bea­cons­field firsts beat Kew by 20 runs in Di­vi­sion One, while Scott Nor­wood’s cen­tury (121) saw Di­vi­sion 3b lead­ers Che­nies & La­timer beat Farn­ham Royal by 40 runs, but Chal­font St Peter went down by three wickets to Hilling­don Manor in Di­vi­sion 4a.
