AMERSHAM Bowls Club’s men are out of the County Cup following a 68-51 defeat to Marlow – despite winning two of the four rinks.
In the Chiltern & Thames League, there was a defeat on all rinks to Gerrards Cross, while against Wendover a brave fightback from 12-1 down to win their rink 18-17 by David Balderson, Diana Bassett and Howard Brown was scant consolation in the end as Amersham lost 58-41 overall.
In the Three Counties League, another loss on all rinks to Chessvale (108-74) was followed by a share of the spoils against Wexham, in which Amersham lost 112-92 overall but won 3-2 on rinks, Eric Sherlock, Pam Hunt, Pat Barnard and Anne Begley’s their best one.
A 101-98 friendly win over Wendover made up for the C&T defeat to the same side, while the ladies beat Bassetbury Manor 48-30.
The ladies also won the first leg of the Burnham Plate against Chalfont St Giles 22 -12, but lost to Chess Vale in the Vi Trundell competition home (25-14) and away (30-20).
