Glitterati: famous faces through a lens
A retrospective exhibition of the work of celebrated photographer to the stars Joe Bangay opens this weekend at Blink Gallery in his home town of Marlow
YOU will be seeing stars if you head to Blink Gallery in Marlow from Saturday and throughout the month. They will be lining the walls as the gallery hosts Glitterati, a retrospective of the work of photographer Joe Bangay.
A collection of iconic, limited edition portraits, Glitterati features some of the greatest names in film, sports and politics from the 60s, 70s and 80s.
Bangay began his photography career in the RAF in Borneo before becoming a Fleet Street stalwart.
He gained access to the hedonistic London music scene of the 1960s and went on to capture some of the most flamboyant faces of the next few decades. He was accepted into the inner circle of the glitterati and photographed them all. Now 85, he still lives and works in Marlow.
Blink Gallery owner Fiona Hunter said: “Joe is a genuine legend and a real character. I love how he has captured those unguarded moments that today would not be possible.”
Glitterati, a Joe Bangay retrospective, can be seen at Blink Gallery, Spittal Street, Marlow, until July 1.
