CHALFONT St Peter Tennis Club’s first and second teams both remained unbeaten in winning their Bucks Vets Winter Leagues to gain promotion to Leagues Three and Five respectively

The first team had an international feel, with Frenchman Guillaume Martin bringing the Gallic flair, while South African Alan Rechtman provided some consistency.

Nick Trigg used his power shots to great effect while Nigel Orlans prowled at the net and, with captain Kevin Popely combining a power serve with an all-court awareness, the team won five and drew one of their six matches.

Pete Fisher, Charlie Phelps, Neil McCluskey, Mike Baker, Mike Bird and Graham Thomas not only chalked up a similar success for the second team, winning three games and drawing two, but also assisted the first team when players were unavailable.

The club is welcoming new players at a discounted rate for the forthcoming season, with £99 for new adult membership.
