Check the scores on the doors on Dad’s Day
SOUTH BUCKS District Council is encouraging people to check the food hygiene rating of a restaurant, pub or takeaway if they’re going out to dinner on Father’s Day.
Places that sell or serve food are inspected by a food safety officer from the council and given a food hygiene rating.
The ratings range from five, which means the hygiene standards are very good, to zero, which indicates urgent improvement is required.
South Bucks District Councillor Trevor Egleton, portfolio holder for healthy communities said: “We inspect all eating out venues across the district to ensure they are up to scratch, with 90 per cent of food businesses having a rating of three or higher.
“Before you book your meal out, take a few minutes to check the hygiene rating. You want your dad to remember the day for all the right reasons not because of a bout of food poisoning.”
Check ratings at food. gov.uk/ratings or by downloading the free ‘food hygiene’ app on your mobile device, or look out for green and black stickers that businesses display.
