Support national week by recycling at home

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

A DISTRICT council is urging residents to recycle more to support National Recycle Week (June 22 to 26).

As part of the week, South Bucks District Council is promoting the year’s theme ‘Recycling around the home’.

It is encouraging people to recycle items found all over the house and want people to look past the kitchen when recycling.

South Bucks district councillor Luisa Sullivan, portfolio holder for environment, said: “We would like to thank our residents for helping us increase our recycling rate from 34 per cent to more than 50 per cent since introducing the improved collection service in 2014.

“Thanks to their efforts, the district continues to increase the amount of waste that is diverted away from landfill and gets recycled.

“This helps to save resources, energy and protect the environment for future generations, so please keep it up and help us achieve a 60 per cent recycling rate.”

A full list of what can and cannot be recycled is available on the recycling pages of the website at www.southbucks.gov.uk.
